The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the recent conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, has catalyzed an unprecedented need for advancements in global health infrastructure and practices, echoing the urgency witnessed during the last world war. In these times of crisis, the emphasis has shifted to enhancing healthcare systems, leveraging the potential of digital health, and ensuring equitable access to medical resources and innovations.
In this context, the Data Revolution, Digital Health, and the development of healthcare systems resilient to pandemics and conflicts emerge as pivotal areas of focus. These sectors are crucial in building healthier populations and ensuring that advanced healthcare treatments are accessible and affordable to people worldwide, regardless of the prevailing global challenges.
Embracing the 'One Health' concept is vital in our interconnected world. It highlights that no country can independently tackle the challenges of future health crises or geopolitical instabilities. United international cooperation is the cornerstone for building the resilience required to face such multifaceted health challenges.
This year, we are set to witness and contribute to a milestone: the Europe-India Digital Health Summit, taking place as a side event of the World Health Assembly in Geneva. This summit will serve as a hub for discussing the latest advancements in Digital Health and resilient healthcare systems, which are critical in a world shaped by the post-COVID-19 environment and ongoing conflicts.
Since our inaugural Mashup Meeting for the EU-India Digital Health Summit at INFARMED, Portugal in 2020, this Summit has continually guided our focus. It stands as a testament to our dedication to advancing global health through innovation and international collaboration, highlighting the significance of such forums in creating a healthier, more resilient world. The Europe-India Summit in Geneva will underscore the importance of international cooperation and the role of data-driven and technological advancements in building a healthier future for all.
We warmly invite you to join our next preparatory meeting for the Europe-India Summit. Your participation and insights are crucial for the success of this event. Please register your interest using the contact form below. We look forward to your valuable contributions.

EU-India Health Collaboration: Involving Non-EU European Nations
The EU-India health cooperation, rooted in the EU-India Strategic Partnership of 2004, represents a significant collaborative effort in areas such as health research, public health, and health security. India, with its vast population and key role as a major producer of pharmaceuticals and vaccines, is an essential player in this partnership, contributing significantly to global health dynamics. While this alliance faces challenges, particularly in the realm of intellectual property rights (IPRs) — with India favoring more relaxed patent rules for medical goods, a position that diverges from the EU's more stringent approach — it continues to grow and adapt, especially in response to global health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic (read more)
This evolving partnership not only underscores the potential for deepened collaboration between the EU and India but also opens the floor for discussions about the involvement of other European nations outside the EU. Such an expansion could bring mutual benefits, allowing these nations to contribute to and benefit from this important collaboration in global health, thereby enhancing the collective response to health challenges.
